About us

He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is an independent Crown Entity. Our role is to provide independent, evidence-based advice on climate change issues to Aotearoa New Zealand's government of the day.

Our advice is based on research and analysis of different factors that can affect our emissions and the potential impacts and effects of climate change. Our advice helps the government make decisions to help Aotearoa New Zealand transition to a thriving climate-resilient and low emissions country.

Alongside providing advice, we also monitor and report progress towards Aotearoa New Zealand's goals for reducing emissions and adapting to a changing climate.
